Privacy Policy

The short version: Plates Calc has no accounts and sets no tracking cookies. Your settings and plate inventory are stored only in your own browser and never leave your device. The little data processing that does happen is described below.

2. Calculator data stays on your device

Your unit preference, bar weight, theme and plate inventory are stored exclusively in your browser's localStorage. This data is never transmitted to us or to anyone else; we cannot see it. It is strictly necessary to provide the service you request (remembering your settings), within the meaning of § 25 (2) TDDDG, so no consent banner is required. You can delete it at any time by clearing your browser data for this site.

3. Hosting (Vercel)

This site is hosted by Vercel Inc., 440 N Barranca Ave #4133, Covina, CA 91723, USA. When you visit the site, Vercel processes the technical data your browser transmits – IP address, date and time of the request, requested URL, browser type and referrer – in server logs, as is technically required to deliver the site securely (legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR, our legitimate interest in operating a secure, functional website). Vercel is certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and processes data on our behalf under Art. 28 GDPR.

4. Analytics (Vercel Analytics)

We use Vercel Analytics to understand aggregate usage (page views, country-level origin, device type). It sets no cookies, stores no identifiers on your device, and does not track you across sites; visitors are counted via a short-lived anonymous hash. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR – our legitimate interest in understanding whether the tool is useful.

5. Mobile-app waitlist (Tally)

The "Want a mobile app?" form is provided by Tally BV, Wiedauwkaai 23E, 9000 Ghent, Belgium (EU). Data you enter there, your email address and your answers, is processed by Tally only when you submit the form, on the basis of your consent (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR). We use it solely to gauge demand for, and later announce, a mobile app. You can withdraw consent at any time by emailing us; we will delete your entry. If you never submit the form, no data is sent to Tally by us.

6. External links (Buy Me a Coffee)

The support button links to buymeacoffee.com, an external service operated by Publisher Weekly Inc. (USA). If you follow the link, their privacy policy applies. No data is sent to Buy Me a Coffee just by visiting our site.

7. Children's privacy

We do not aim our services at children under the age of 13 and do not knowingly collect personal information about children under 13.

8. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

• access the personal data we hold about you (Art. 15),
• rectification (Art. 16) and erasure (Art. 17),
• restriction of processing (Art. 18),
• data portability (Art. 20),
• object to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21), and
• lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (Art. 77), for example the data protection authority of your German federal state.

In practice: since we store nothing about you server-side, most requests are answered by pointing at this page, but email us at info@platescalculator.com any time.

9. Security & changes

The site is served exclusively over TLS (HTTPS). We may update this policy when the service changes; the date above reflects the latest revision.
