# About Plates Calc

Plates Calc is a free barbell plate calculator. Enter the weight you want on the bar and it shows exactly which plates go on each side, in kg or lb. It solves against the plates you actually own, handles fractional plates down to 0.25, and shows the closest weight you can load when an exact total is not possible.

## Who it is for

Garage-gym and home lifters with a mismatched or incomplete plate collection, and anyone in a commercial gym who would rather not do plate math between sets. Big buttons and a high-contrast dark theme keep it usable with chalked hands.

## How it works

The calculator runs entirely in your browser. There are no accounts and no tracking: your settings and plate inventory stay on your device (see the [privacy policy](https://platescalculator.com/privacy)). Add it to your Home Screen and it works offline too.
